Do I Need a Body Skincare Routine?

If you want healthy-looking, silky-smooth glowing skin from head to toe, then yes! Your body deserves a skincare routine just as much as your face does. This is why ‘Skinification’ is one of beauty’s biggest buzzwords in body care, and we have just the products to help you on a better body care journey.

What Should Your Body Skincare Routine Include?

An effective body skincare routine will contain the three (very familiar) steps: cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise. From there, you can add extra steps to target your specific skin concerns. Think of the extra steps as your serum, to target issues such as breakouts on your back, strawberry skin on the legs, dark spots on your chest, uneven texture etc.

Common Body Skin Concerns

Some common concerns include:

  • Dryness – Just like the face, keeping the body nourished is key to healthy-looking skin. Supporting your skin barrier with the right products can enhance firmness and elasticity.
  • Dullness – A lack of radiance can make skin look tired. Regular exfoliation, hydration, and brightening ingredients help restore a luminous appearance.
  • Textural Irregularities – Rough patches, breakouts, or uneven texture can often be improved with exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and promote renewal, along with moisturising for softness.
  • Ageing – Since body skin ages differently than facial skin, targeted products that support renewal can help improve texture and maintain a youthful look.

Step 1: Cleanse

The perfect body skincare routine begins in the shower.

Like your skincare regime, cleansing is the solid first step in your body care routine. A body wash will not only keep your skin clean and free of dirt and impurities, but it can also be key for targeting certain skin concerns. Make sure that the water is not too hot, showering in cooler water provides more benefits to your skin.

Which Body Wash Should I Use?

At SBC, we see our body washes as more than just cleansers—they're skincare for your body. Each formula is packed with moisturising Glycerin, gentle surfactants, and targeted key extracts to meet your skin's needs:

Step 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliating your body is key to silky smooth skin! You should add this to your routine twice weekly to remove any build-up of dead skin cells. Regular exfoliation, physical or chemical, will help get rid of dull spots and dry patches, while simultaneously keeping skin looking bright and healthy.

Top Body Exfoliators for Smooth Skin:

Consider sloughing away dead cells with chemical exfoliation with SBC's Glycolic Radiance Body Serum, this luxe body serum is infused with Glycolic Acid and fruity AHAs to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. Smooth onto your skin after your shower, you can use alone or with a moisturiser on the top.

If you prefer physical exfoliation, try SBC's Coffee & Sugar Body Scrub, not only does it smell delicious, but it also works to smooth, nourish and tone your skin. Using coffee grounds and sugar to exfoliate dead skin cells off the body and reveal softer, brighter skin.

Step 3: Treat

This is where SBC Skincare really shines. Once your skin is cleansed and exfoliated, you can start treating specific skin concerns like brightening, smoothing, or correcting discolouration.

Targeted Skincare for the Body

  • If you’ve tried Hyaluronic Acid for your face, it’s time to experience the benefits for your body with SBC’s Hyaluronic Gel Concentrate. This powerful body gel is formulated with a 20% blend of Hyaluronic Acid and fruit-derived AHAs, to replenish moisture and allow you to achieve smoother, more radiant skin.
  • To target breakouts on the body, you need ingredients to deep clean the pores - Propolis & White Willow Moisturising Gel contains Salicylic Acid and Willow Bark to keep pores clear, while Propolis and Cica keep your skin soothed and healthy.
  • Vitamin C is a powerful ingredient in skincare that provides multiple benefits. It even skin tone, protects against free radicals, and boosts collagen production for anti-ageing benefits. Our Vitamin C Glow Boost Serum and Vitamin C Moisturising Gel are infused with Vitamin C to deliver all-over radiance and a youthful glow.
  • We also recommend using our Rosehip Oil Moisturising Gel for the ultimate head-to-toe glow-up! This moisturising gel is formulated with nourishing Rosehip Oil and Vitamins A, C and E, to deeply hydrate your skin, reduce the appearance of marks and improve elasticity.

Step 4: Moisturise

Moisturising your body creates a barrier for your skin, helping to protect your skin and keep it soft and smooth. Whether you have dry skin or are oilier, you should still incorporate a moisturiser into your body skincare routine. The lower legs, back, and arms as well as the elbows and knees are most likely to become dry and rough, so it’s best to pay a little extra attention when applying moisturiser to these areas.

Best Body Butters

  • Infused with a conditioning blend of Kukui Nut Oil and Shea Butter, SBC’s Hydra-Collagen Body Butter banishes dry skin, and keeps it smooth and supple.

  • SBC's Propolis Body Butter is also a great rich body butter to help nourish and soothe your skin. Infused with Royal Jelly, Shea Butter and of course Propolis extract, the moisturiser leaves you with a smooth, healthy-looking canvas.

How Often Should I Do a Body Skincare Routine?

Consistency is key, two to three times a week. You should at least cleanse and moisturise once a day, but body skincare routines will differ for each person—how much cleansing, hydration, or treatment your skin needs will depend on your skin type and concerns.
