Why You Should be Using Acids in your Skincare

Skincare Acids are Amazing!

There is a wealth of information available to help you get your head around using acids on your skin. What they are, what they do, when you should use them, etc. They are such buzzwords in the skincare industry today, and rightly so.

To make life a little easier, we have summed up why you need acids in your skincare routine, focussing on 4 key acids – Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid…

9 Key Reasons Why You Need Acids in Your Skincare…

1. Skincare Acids target most skin concerns

If you are looking for solutions to combat; signs of ageing, breakouts, dull or dehydrated skin (so, that includes most of us!), skincare acids are miracles for your complexion.

2. Some acids are gentle chemical exfoliators

Glycolic (AHA), Lactic (AHA) and Salicylic (BHA) Acids are chemical exfoliants, which are gentler on your skin than physical exfoliants. Harsh scrubs and exfoliators can tear the skin’s surface. Chemical exfoliants increase the shedding of dead skin, to allow beautiful, radiant new skin to shine through.

3. Acids make skin glow

AHAs increase cell turnover, through exfoliation and the dissolving of dead skin cells. Newly revealed skin is fresh looking and glowing with health. If dead skin cells are left on the surface of the skin, they absorb light, rather than reflect it, resulting in dull-looking skin.

4. Skincare Acids target signs of ageing

This is particularly true of Glycolic and Hyaluronic Acid. However, this happens in two completely different ways. Glycolic Acid can stimulate collagen production, to help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, whilst Hyaluronic Acid plumps the skin with moisture, for firmer, more elastic, skin.

5. Acids even skin tone

Hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and unevenness lessen with continued use of skincare acids, for a brighter, more even skin tone.

6. Acids unclog pores and minimise blemishes

This is Salicylic Acid’s forte. As well as dissolving dead skin build-up, Salicylic Acid can clear and unclog pores. Also, when used over time, Salicylic Acid can minimise their appearance.

7. Acids can improve a product’s efficacy

Using skincare acids can help the absorption and effectiveness of other products in your routine and increase their benefits.

8. Acids soften and smooth skin texture

Due to regular exfoliation of dead skin cells, keeping pores clear and improving the efficacy of your skincare regime, your skin will become smoother to the touch in no time at all!

9. Acids Hydrate the skin

Hyaluronic Acid isn’t like the others; it doesn’t exfoliate but instead hydrates. In fact, Hyaluronic Acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water molecules. Therefore, we have created our new Hyaluronic Gel Concentrate and Hyaluronic Hydra-Mist to effectively smooth, hydrate and rejuvenate your skin with every use.
